Private First Class Kenneth Sauter... ... Private First Class DedrickWhile pushing through the town of Veghel, the 193rd GIR and allies encountered a fierce German defense near the T Junction North of the town, centered around a Panzer. After sustaining extreme casualties from the Panzer's accurate 88mm and MG fire, Pfc. Dedrick was detached from his fireteam and set out to maneuver close enough to get an accurate shot on the armored threat. Despite the heavy fire and continued loss of nearby comrades, Pfc. Dedrick managed to get a clear shot on the Panzer with his rocket launcher and destroyed it with a well placed shot. The resulting lack of armored support allowed the men to regroup and push into the final objective and clear the Germans from the area. For this instrumental action, the Army Commendation Medal with V Device is awarded to Pfc. Dedrick.... ... ... ... ... Private Terry Korner... ... ... ... |
